The Best GanondorThe Best Ganondorff
October 9, 2024 by JoeyJ
Ganondorf is undoubtedly the most well known villain of the Zelda franchise. Ever since his first appearance in Ocarina of Time, the male Gerudo has been a well known and favorite villainous character for Zelda fans, including me. Perhaps his favoritism is because he is the most reoccurring main enemy in the franchise, but there is one version of Ganondorf that I believe stands out as the most interesting and memorable out of all of them.

To be completely honest right from the start - I thought long and hard about how to begin this blog post. As this is a topic of the utmost importance to me, I wanted to introduce the post with something special. But I just couldn't think of anything. That's why I'm starting this topic with my own blunt honesty.
I love being part of the Zelda community. In the years that I've been active in this community, I've met a lot of lovely, nice people. One of the things I particularly enjoy about interacting with other fans is hearing other fans' stories. How they got into Zelda, what their favorite game of the series is, what they associate with Zelda - all these personal stories are something very special and important to me. And one of these questions is, of course, the one I'm answering for you today from my own personal perspective...
First Time Playing BOTW/TOTK and OOT/MM: Which Pair is Better?
August 8, 2024 by JoeyJ
While all of the main Zelda games are said to be part of one universe (with a multitude of timelines), only some of the games have direct sequels. The two sets of sequel games that probably stand out the most are the newest ones in the series (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom) and the ones that began the 3D Zelda era (Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask).

I think one of the things that draws so many of us into the Legend of Zelda games and finds us so enchanted with them is the overworld. Whether you’re dutifully keeping to the main quest line, going off on tangents during side quests, or simply getting lost exploring, the land of Hyrule truly is nothing short of incredible.
When the first trailer for Tears of the Kingdom was posted in June 2019, fans were excited about Princess Zelda’s new cropped haircut. Perhaps this meant she would be a playable character, people speculated, as it meant that no weapons or armor would have to clip through her hair. In November 2020, Zelda was indeed one of the main playable characters in Age of Calamity. Although it’s great fun to use Zelda’s magical light blasts to part seas of swarming enemies, it was also somewhat disappointing that the gameplay of Age of Calamity positioned Zelda as just another fighter, while Zelda was largely absent from the gameplay of Tears of the Kingdom.
Breath of the Wild was my very first Zelda game that I owned and played. Prior to this, I loved playing open-world exploration games such as Fallout, The Elder’s Scrolls and Assassin’s Creed. But Breath of the Wild had completely captured my gaming attention and imagination in ways that I had not experienced since I was in high school. The amount of fun and hours put into just exploring the massive sandbox world of BotW’s Hyrule, as well as solving puzzles and finding new ways to fight enemies is astonishing. That, along with discovering the subtle bits of lore and stories that tells the history of Hyrule, 100 years ago to the present day.

It’s that time of year: the time of love, romance, and (eventually) discounted chocolate. Some love it, some hate it, some couldn’t care less; we all feel some sort of way about Valentine’s Day.
In that same vein, it could be said we feel some way about the way love and relationships are depicted in The Legend of Zelda series.
Why Hestu Gives the Greatest Gift In Zelda

The Zelda games have had their fair share of strange and interesting quests: from creating a marching line of cuccos, to sending love letters back and forth between a hylian and a moblin. Link can’t help but to find himself in odd situations, such as making soup with a yeti or giving a “helping hand” to several ghost hands in toilets (yes, several).
Frosty and Cozy Fun at Snowfield Stable
December 3, by Korike
Quite a few Legend of Zelda titles boast some kind of frozen location, ranging from dungeons of ice to eerie and sometimes horror-inducing hideouts like the Snowpeak Ruins in Twilight Princess. I’m not personally all that familiar with snow and ice since I live in a warm climate, but if I had to pick one of these chilly spots for a vacation, I’d definitely choose the Snowfield Stable from Tears of the Kingdom as my number one destination.
Hyrule’s True Courage and Meaning of Home
How Tears of the Kingdom taught me about true courage and the true meaning of home

The Zelda game series holds an extremely special place in my heart. This is true for most of the games themselves, but also the various lessons that we take from the series. The Legend of Zelda series makes me thankful for the true courage I had to face real life challenges and ultimately allowed me to find my true meaning of home.

Ah, autumn! It is time to get your candles out, close the curtains and wrap the blanket around your shoulders. The leaves are turning yellow and orange, the temperature’s getting colder and sun sets earlier day by day. But darker evening gives our imagination more ideas to work with; what was that noise, did someone knock my window, did that tree just move?

With The Legend of Zelda series being over 35 years old now, our hero Link has traveled through Hyrule - and even other lands! His first few adventures were solo - lonely dangerous explorations of countryside fallen to the overtaking of the Demon King, Ganon. Through Hyrule’s Overworld, transformed as a rabbit in the Dark World, were often his solo adventures. We don’t even see NPCs until his second adventure - the RPG-esque Zelda II: Adventure of Link...
The Legend of Zelda game series has held fans in a steadfast grip since the very day it began, captivating them in the land of Hyrule. The franchise is full of fully-fledged characters, with even side characters sporting their own unique personality and backstory. But what really adds an additional layer of depth to the franchise is the original characters (OCs) that are created within the thriving fan community. It is through this blog that we’ll take a closer look at the significance and benefits OCs bring to the community and their creators.
Where would I take a vacation if I could transport myself to a location from the beloved Legend of Zelda series? I've always had one specific place I'd prefer to go to: Great Bay from Majora's Mask. After 23 years, the release of 14 mainline games since Majora's Mask, even after experiencing the beauty of locations in Breath of the Wild, this answer has never changed.
It was the summer of 2000, and I was nine years old —though if you’d asked, I would have insisted I was “almost ten,” ready to free myself from the constraints of my singular digit prison. I would be all grown up in September, after all. I’d read not two, but three 5th grade level books already that summer and I was eager to tell that to anyone who listened. I was practically an adult —I just hadn’t discovered the Master Sword yet, and I might always be waiting for my fairy.

Miyamoto and his team have succeeded time and time again in creating a world to immerse us in. Every Zelda game I have played in the past has made me feel like I was in a new world. There is always an art behind their world-building and how the information, locations, and characters are presented to us. It takes immense skill to not only create a game, but to create an adventure.

Turning on a console and starting up any 'Legend of Zelda' game is like coming home after a long day. They're comfortable, each their own special world that I can step into whenever I need a break from messy, complicated, real life. My goals there are simple: Grow stronger, help people, defeat evil.

Breath of the Wild redefined what a Zelda game could be. The green tunic was shed, the characters could speak and the world was vast. It won over fans instantly and it even broke the record for the best-selling Zelda game of all time. Now we are only weeks away from Breath of the Wild’s sequel.
